The Avebury Tribe Initiative

Avebury Tribe is the community — the people who gather here, celebrate here, volunteer here, care for this place, and contribute to the living culture of Avebury.

The Avebury Tribe Initiative is not an organisation, religion, order, or governing body. It is a declaration of shared principles. Its purpose is to identify and promote the values that unite us despite our different paths, beliefs, traditions and backgrounds.

Druids, Wiccans, Heathens, witches, Pagans of many traditions, local residents, visitors, and those of no particular spiritual path may all hold different beliefs and practices, yet still find common ground in how they choose to conduct themselves towards one another. The Initiative exists to make that common ground visible.

These principles do not begin and end at the boundaries of Avebury. They are not rules for visiting a place — they are guides for how we choose to walk through the world. They influence how we treat one another, how we engage with our communities, how we honour our responsibilities, and how we conduct ourselves wherever we may be.

Avebury provides the gathering place, but the principles travel with the people. In affirming them, we acknowledge that whilst our paths may differ, there are things we hold in common — and through those shared values we can demonstrate, both to ourselves and to the wider world, that diversity need not mean division.
