About

The Avebury Tribe

The local working community made up of people who actively contribute to the life of Avebury through service, organisation, stewardship, ceremony, hospitality, education, history and practical support.

Holding space. Not holding power.

The Tribe exists to hold space, support cooperation and maintain continuity in a place where many traditions meet. We work quietly, in service to the landscape and to those who walk it.

Membership is shown by what people do — by the care they take, the ceremonies they hold, the visitors they welcome, the histories they remember and the relationships they tend.

"The Avebury Tribe initiative is an affirmation of the principles of behaviour that have emerged from Avebury's unique culture of cooperation. It recognises that people of many different paths can share the same sacred landscape through respect, guest rights, non-interference, and goodwill. Joining the Tribe is not joining an organisation; it is simply expressing support for the values that have helped make Avebury's community possible."
